Who is Lynette Molefe?
No one has ever achieved anything with fear, but believing in one’s self and accepting that you can do anything is the way to go. This mind set has enabled Lynette to chase her dreams and create a fortune for herself.
Her name is Lynette Molefe, a 33 years old young lady aspiring to become an expert in the event industry. She is a loving mother, a friend and an inspiring business woman. She is best known as a creative, hardworking star in the event industry, and she has been at it for most of her life. Event planning is her passion, and so she has a burning appetite for what she believes in.
Goals and achievements
She never intended on being an event planner, but her work experience has made her see opportunities in the event industry and grasp it with both hands. “Based on my experience, I have a strong background with corporate entities from my previous jobs, which have set a foundation for me,” Lynette explains.
Her everyday goal is to be the best she can be by designing and executing memorable events that fulfill her clients and attendees wishes. As an event planner she is always making sure that everything she touches turns into treasure. She says going beyond the call of duty requires being able to excel under pressure. It is crucial for her, in this industry that deals with people and their interest; to understand what the client brief requires and delivering beyond expectation.
Lynette has been in the industry since 2008. “My first event was in 2018. I was hosting various stakeholders for a Civil Aviation Authority Botswana (CAAB) event. However, my highlight event was the recent official opening of The Fields Mall as a project lead. Reason being it was a collaborative project and also my first time to host the Office of the President, which was a success,” she discloses.
Having to look at her beautiful artistic planning, one cannot believe that she is a self-taught event planner. She has grown in the event industry over a short period of time, and seeing herself stepping up the ladder of success gives her hope. She says: ”I would like to identify myself as an event specialist. Because, I forever find myself providing solutions for various situations. This makes me versatile and able to appeal to different audiences. So, it means I play a crucial role in the event industry.”
Passion and driving force
Her remarkable journey in starting her event business emerged when she saw a gap in the event industry and chose to fill the void. “The passion developed due to high market potential as the growing need for collaborations and synergies, I saw it necessary to make an opportunity by being part of the solution. I now believe that this is my talent,” she disclosed. Her passion and tolerance has significantly contributed to who she is and what she aims to be in the near future.
What she enjoys most about her work is simple, having the opportunity to work with different people from different backgrounds. And creating memorable events that satisfy her clients. Lynette says, “Being able to go beyond my imagination and come up with ideas that have long-lasting impressions and building unforgettable memories is the greatest technique that I utilize for the success of the business.”
Challenges and accomplishments
She has always wanted to be successful in her business and that requires dedication and hard work which she has put from the beginning up to where she is today. Lynette has faced so many difficulties in her business journey, but she somehow managed to overcome it and made it to where she is today. Lynette discloses that some challenges among other things are criticism and being taken for granted. “As a small business we often get overlooked as big companies normally go for well-known event companies. This refuels my passion and has kept me knocking on doors, and also finding new ways to penetrate the market.” She elaborated.
Furthermore, she revealed how tough it was in the begging to convince people to believe in her capabilities.” It is always hard to be trusted by people who do not believe that you are good at what you do. Especially at the beginning, as people are always skeptical about requesting your services,” she says.
On growth and relevance
Being an event planner is artistic, and it requires creative techniques to nail every successful event. “I love to strategize events from start to end. Calculating a possible problem that could occur, but most importantly also coming up with solutions. At the end of the day, it’s all about customer satisfaction and excellent delivery service from me by also making sure the purpose of the event is accomplished,” she narrates.
Lynette handles every single event with the same passion, as it is important to her as much as it is important to the clients. Lynette always makes sure that the objectives of the event are accomplished, and all stakeholders are satisfied. “I make sure that the running order goes accordingly and all pieces of the event are connected,” she clarifies.
She positions herself for growth in the business by being progressive in terms of doing research on latest trends in the Industry. “It’s a value I live for, this is why I am honest with my client from the beginning to the end because it aids me on delivery of clients’ expectations,” Lynette conveys.
Advice to others
Lynette gave a piece of advice to people who want to venture into the event industry and said, “It takes patience and perseverance. The key is NEVER TO GIVE UP and keep knocking on doors.”
