SHE LIVES IN A WORLD

Poem by Refilwe J. Mokgatlenyane

She lives in a world around peers
A world where everyone is afraid to conquer their fears
She lives in a world full of tears
A world where she cannot find herself

She lives in a world full of pressure
A world that has buried her treasure
She lives in a world as dark as a dull night
But she, has a little light

No one wipes her tears
When she cries, no one hears
Because she lives in a world where nobody cares
She lives, but she cannot be her own self

Her voice has a great powerful tone
That when she’s listened to, she can change lives
But she lives in a world where everyone is quiet
Sometimes she gains courage, she strives
But she lives in a world where everyone has given up
A world… where everything is fucked up!
