I’am currently the owner of two businesses namely Incredible Africa for my music needs and Untouched retail Corp for my merchandising and clothing needs.

Tell us about the industry you’re in. Why did you decide to be a musician? How do you tackle the challenges you meet?

In botswana there is a current lack of industry, musically. We need infrastructure and regulatory bodies that are for the advancement and exponential growth of music in botswana. If that happens then we won’t have to leave the country to have lucrative careers because there is too much money in Botswana, it is just being stolen through corruption and we the artists are not unified or informed enough to change this narrative.

I decided to become a musician after being a rapper/producer for 13 years then I realised that becoming a musician would be a more challenging and exciting job.

I face all the challenges head on with an open mind and skillfull precise problem solving set of techinques ive built and instilled in myself over the years, I also face these problems with my personal team which currently consists of myself and my two business partners Blueflame and Hero Nux they help me navigate any issues effeciently for the time being while we expand the team.

Who gave you an uplift in this industry?

One of my mentors and big brothers Orakle he gave me my first commercial big break you could say.

Have you ever dealt with Rumours arising about yourself?

There are many rumours and misconceptions of who I am and what I’ve done. It comes with the level of success and adversity I’ve contributed to urban music in botswana most of which arises from jealousy with regards to said achievements and innovation/my legendary status.

Most if not all of the rumours are not true so I ignore them. There is no use fighting an opinion about you that is not true because you can give it power over you and it will look like there is some truth to it.

Would you quit the music world for a different career path?

I will never quit making music but I do plan to retire from competitive music making after atleast 15 to 20 years from now. Music is my life it gave me everything I have today and more.

In this current day and age music is the most impactful influential part of modern day society. It governs how most things are recieved and percieved, and it can be used to control variables of a countries/the worlds economy.

Do you make enough money to sustain your lifestyle and feed your family all from music?

Currently I am not making that much money from music because I previously lacked the full knowledge of how to turn a craft you love into a viable sustainable money making career and business.
However music has feed me and allowed me to feed my family and help where I can when I can.

What are your work ethics?

All i can say is that I am one of the hardest and smartest working artists Botswana will ever produce.

Who do you work with?

I work with artists that love music and are worth my time and effort because they value and respect my level musicianship.

Can you tell us about the music group, Faded Gang? Who started the group?

Faded gang was started by Ammo Ski Mask, now Balaclava Blanco, Gino Price, Paper boy, and Mane Dilla circa 2009/10.

What caused the fallout of the gang in the past?

the fallout was caused by philosophical differences.

How did you overcome all your misunderstandings and get back together?

We overcame them with time to heal and grow individualy, and the understanding that bostwana has never produced a musical entity with the impact we’ve had and that is as great as faded. and we owe it to the nation to use our talent to uplift and inspire. We made the average Motswana realise that he or she is not that average.

Do you have plans for the future as a music group?

we intend to continue where we left off and demonstraight to the world who Botswana is and that we are not to be played with in any capacity.

Which music shows have you had the opportunity to partake in? And how did these impact on your career?

I’ve done all the big shows in botswana but they are all incignifficant and still are because the promoters dont respect Bw artists. So most of them where just gigs for money and all of them had sub par sound they still operate in this maner even now. The best shows I did were organised and innovated by Mane DIlla and they eventually made Faded Gang what it is today, those shows where priceless.

Professionally, what’s your goal?

I am on my way to becoming an international household name and having my music distributed acrosss the globe and showing earth that BW has the best artists ever. That is the 3rd phase of my pro career and where iam currently dedicating my time.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years to come?

In five years I will be the biggest artiste in Africa and the world, I will be living in LA and i will be worth close to 100 million US dollars or more. I will be married and have two children hopefully both boys so I can name them Okoth Asante Obado the 1st and Okoth Asante Obado the 2nd.

Would you rather be a broke rapper or a rich office worker?

I would rather be me, ObvdO, a succesful musician from Botswana.

Which legends in this industry would you like to be compared to? Why?

No one can compare me to any artist in Bostwana because I was the first of my kind. Before me, artists in Botswana where not that serious and only appealed to an audience in Botswana after me we are now international well some of us are. I am what is known as a young walking living legend ask about me.

If you won a million dollars, what would you do with it?

I would invest it into my career and turn it into 10 milion dollars in under a year.

Have you ever found yourself in a ‘beef’ situation?

No one wants smoke with me because I am not an artist you can play with. Those that tried are all internet trolls and clowns. When I see them in real life either they tuck their tails between their legs or they pay respects and beg for mercy ask about me I don’t need back up.

Where can potential fans find your music?

You can find my music on SoundCloud, YouTube, audio mack, datafilehost and some on apple and other major platforms. Most are on the first sites because I’ve been dropping free music to build a loyal fan base that understands that I am the quality music plug. Please give us the names of your Mixtapes/albums released by far, and a little bit of insight in them.

Death before dishonor (2014)
this was my first official solo mixtape and artist release mostly produced by myself ,Trey5000 and Balaclava Blanco Boss. it was also mixed and mastered by me and it was an introduction to my innovative style of music composition. it had the hits ”jackie chan” ”Mama” ”El jefe” to name a few.

The Greatest Ever aka TGE (2015)
this was my second release produced, mixed and mastered by me exepct for some beats which where produced by my brother HBA(highbeatsAfrica) it spawned the hits ”skununu” ”goose soup” ”Empire ft veezoview” which made me a household name nationwide.i probably made P100.000(one hundred thousand pula) from the exposure of this release over a period of 3 years.

Gone(2016)
this was my third mixtape and my most colaborative effort but i feel like it is one of my weaker releases but it remains a fan favourite to this day with hits like latswa 2x etc it was produced by myself and my brother biscuithead aswell as my brother based in RSA Maxx tokeyo.

mogolo(2017/2018)
in my opinion this mixtape was my best work yet at the time it was ambitious but still retained the hard street trap sound iam known for originating in botswana. after this tape i noticed how urban music in botswana changed if you see anyone doing afrobeat, rnb, trapsoul etc they are probably children of mogolo,it was my favourite to work on i produced mixed and mastered every song and featured Botswana’s greatest RNb/trapsoul/soul artist 7Daysofsummer.

staywinning EP (2019)
this tape is special to me because i was introducing yet another genre of music into botswana and pushing my little brothers Kiddax,Magician and Luc P. Kiddax is an upcoming artist i beleive in greatly we had fun and experimented on this tape and the end result was a hard hitting and unique musical expirence like no other any botswana artist has produced. the tape was produced by myself and 2 future legends of botswana music the young producers Magician and Luc P.
