Once An Athlete

Once a man of great skill and speed,
On the field and in the pool,
He ruled the game with power and grace,
A true athlete and a master of his craft.

But time has passed, and years have gone,
And now he takes a leisurely stroll,
With headphones on and tunes to hum,
He wanders down the road and hears the birds.

His once-toned muscles now have softened,
And a belly paunch has grown,
But still, he finds contentment,
In this simple, peaceful way he’s known.

No longer driven by the rush of competition,
He revels in the solitude and calm,
And though his body may not be what it once was,
His spirit remains just as strong.

So, here’s to the man who once played sports,
But now finds joy in a different sort,
May he continue to live life to the fullest,
And never lose that joy and zest for life, no matter what it brings.
