Educational Background

Modiri’s educational background is both extensive and diverse, beginning with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Botswana. He then went on to earn a Certificate in Digital Marketing from the University of Cape Town, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute. In addition to his formal education, Modiri has also completed a program in Civic Leadership at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Professional Experience

He has a diverse range of work experience, having served as an editorial intern at Lapologa Magazine, a business and features correspondent at Gazette Newspaper, a radio talk show host and business news reporter at Yarona FM, a senior public relations consultant and public relations manager at Horizon Ogilvy & Mather, an editorial board member at YMH Publishing, and a Digital Marketing Specialist at First National Bank Botswana (FNBB). In October 2021, he became the Managing Director and Lead Consultant at Launch Comms, a digitization and marketing business which he founded.

Achievements

In his role at FNBB, Modiri led the company’s online footprint and social media audience growth for three years. He has also worked on major projects such as the Barclays to ABSA rebrand and the Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTCL) brand launch. At Yarona FM, he led the current affairs and business news desks, as well as producing the national elections debate campaign in 2014.

He is also a public speaker and a master of ceremonies (MC) and has had the opportunity to mc the Digital Shift event by BTCL and the Marketing Symposium 2022. He also hosted the SBC Diamond Service Awards 2022.

In conclusion, Mogende holds the perspective that for Marketing and Communications people to remain relevant and return value to their brands, they must think digital for greater impact. Digital marketing continues to advance and in order to have a successful career in marketing and ensure businesses maintain an efficient brand online they all need to stay up to date with digital trends.
