Kosmas Dudie Mamaloukos
Your typical 16 year old young man, who goes by the name Kosmas Dudie Mamaloukos. However, he gets separated from the pack by the sacrifices he makes in order to see the people who make everything possible, happy.
In his own words, “The idea of racing came about from my older brother’s influence, who happens to be an ex Motorsport champion. I cycle a lot and have little tricks up my sleeve as well. I started racing at three years old, but definitely believe that I can do more. I think that there is not really enough contribution and support from our home country, because it is not well recognised. 🤷🏽♂ I try to be the more open minded though and always have room to discover new talents. I also swim, which is pretty much related to my sport. If I were to choose a different career apart from sports, it would be Project Management or Entrepreneurship.
I have a schedule that I follow and time management is key, especially during the week. I leave home at 6am, get home at 8pm and sleep at 12pm every weekday, balancing everything. I usually ask work ahead of time at school, and that is how I cope.
My greatest achievement, so far, is getting second place overall in the 2019 BMS National off-road Championship. My goal for 2020 is to participate in a podium at TDR 1000 and win the off-road Championship Nationals.
Some of the challenges I face are funding, and the way the sport is not well known in Botswana. It is really expensive and even getting sponsors is a struggle.
I have eighteen races locally and seven in South Africa. They are all equally enjoyable and challenging, so I am always am up for a surprise. I began racing as a hobby, that turned into a passion.
My biggest fear has to be falling off the bike and not coming out alive. What really drives me is being able to keep pushing myself and seeing what achievements I can accomplish, as well as the smiles that I put on peoples faces; the hearts I grab. On race day, I must have music, proper nutrition and a positive attitude.
I would advise anyone who has an interest in Motocross racing to never stop chasing what they want, because the moment they do, they will never have it.
If I were to date someone from any sporting code, it would be athletics. 😂 I need to get my lazy butt up and start jogging.
Yes, I have had injuries such as broken ribs, a broken shoulder and torn lower back muscles. Fortunately, through my trusted doctor and a strict training schedule, everything eventually fell into place.
In the next five years, I see myself racing outdoor Motocross Championships in Europe. Like I said, and I always say to my fans and followers, never stop chasing your dream. Even when you catch that dream, there is always more awaiting for you. 👌🏽”
