GABORONE PRIDE CELEBRATES THE RAINBOW PRIDE MONTH WITH A FESTIVAL

As the October month closes its end, the pride nation will go on to wrap the Africa pride month of the LGBTQ+ community with a beautiful festival themed “ Rainbow Pride Fest”

Gaborone Pride was formed as a community organisation meant to raise awareness over issues of the LGBTQ community. This year the organisation partnered with Tashy’s Royal gardens to have this first ever of its kind festival. The event is also set to be an annual festival and this year’s event will be held this weekend on the 22nd of October at Tashy’s Royal Gardens .

Representing Gaborone Pride, Thandie Mabotseng said that the organisation was at work see the LGBTQ community being involved in collaborative works with various organisations. The organisation seeks to see the community continuing to celebrate themselves in safe and conducive environments without any fears of discrimination. They also applauded the work done by Tashy’s Royal Gardens as well in creating a partnership with them and encouraged them to continue doing such with other groups that are in the minority.

When they had their say over the partnership, Tshepo Keakile from Tashy’s Royal Gardens said that they have a keen interest in helping out the community and they have always done so in many ways within the community. He said that they found it fit to help raise awareness and educate the community at large on the importance of embracing such communities as the LGBTQ community. As he concluded he applauded the others that also came on board to support the event and Gaborone Pride.

The event will start early during the day where there is going to be a picnic kind of set up for people to have some relaxed interaction and network to the sounds jazzy music of the likes of Lizibo. Although there will be picnic setups already available, there is still an allowance for those who would want to bring their own setups. Heading into the late hours, things will then now get a bit more groovy and it would be now time to dance and fun all night. There will be camping as well for those who may want to rest rather than drive back home late.

Hosting this colourful event is South Africa’s own Lebo Molax, local Freedie Pro and Gabs DNA will be the MC too. As for the line-up, we shall witness the performances of the likes of Shanti Lo, Khoisan, Lizibo, Casper the DJ, Ms Laura and Ancestral Rituals just to name a few. The tickets to the event are on sale with the General price being P200, the gate tickets selling at P250 and then a VIP ticket that is priced P1500.
