DJ Giftos Going After His Dreams.
Gift Mabasa is a 32 years old young man, who was born and bred in malamulele, Limpopo. He is popularly known by his stage name DJ Giftoz which is derived from his name Gift. “I am dedicated and passionate when it comes to music, i also believes that I was born with vocalizing talent,” he shared. Mabasa is not just a DJ but a music producer as well who own his own music production studio. “knowing my objective and being disciplined is important to me, in such a way that it helps me to know what I stand for as an individual and not only in the music industry,” said the music producer.
On unwinding and what we don’t know about him is that for relaxation, Gift listens to music and watches television. Also, he is a kind of person who doesn’t disclose his anger, in order words no one will confirm they have ever seen him angry, or his bad side. He further revealed that he have learned to distance himself from negative vibes and he is very selective in the company he keeps.
His passion for music.
The DJ described his work as “a gift”, and constantly strive at doing it. ” my passion for being a musician stems from a very young age,” he shared. His passion for music was fueled when he was in primary school and a member of a school choir. ” I sang beautifully with other choir members and we win several trophies for the school,” DJ Gift let out. He grew up loving music with all his heart and consequently, when new songs were released he would know the songs by heart and sing for his school mates, friends and family. ” music is one thing that brought me so much joy,” Gift explained.
“My family have always been very supportive, more specifically my uncle because he used to give me good complement for my music mix,” says DJ Giftoz. Mabasa began naturing his talent fully in 2012 after he was inspired most and mentored by local artist like: Nyiko Baloyi, Owen mahori, Amu Baloyi, Heavy k, khiro, dj maphorisa and many other. That’s when he was motivated to release his first hip-hop album which he worked with Freedom Mathebula, Vusi Chauke, Veldo, and many others. ” He composed a single track “” xifaki” meaning mealiemeal and the songs was a hit and this song resulted into his fans transforming his name into DJ Giftoz xifaki.
Challenges he faced.
“There is no paths without any ups and down.” Mabasa explained. He went further and described variety of challenges he faced through out his journey in the music industry. Gift revealed how people who were very close with him disappointed him with their negative remarks towards his dreams. “I have endured difficult challenges where my close friends used to be discouraging and judgemental instead of being supportive,” he explained. Mabasa announced that people who were not related to him by any chance and not even close with him were very supportive, and stimulating towards his talent. However, that gave him stregth not to be discouraged by his friends or even give up on his dreams.
Financial difficulties are one other thing that he suffered through his musical adventure. “I still remember when i struggled to produce becaused i lacked equipment to do my job and neither did i had money to buy all that was needed”, DJ Giftos said. However, throughout his journey in the music industry he have learned that people will make promises that they later fail to keep at the end of the day but one should not be intimidated.
“The frustration of not getting a polatform to show what i can do makes me wonder if i was really in the right field, while on the other hand your heart insist that your’re on the right track,” Mabasa conveyed. “It is not simple to make it in the music industry, people who contributed the most in helping me establish my brand are: Deli khaxana, victor xivuri and Mr prey.” They played a huge part in establishing his music brand and making it viral by playing it on air in the local radio stations.
DJ Giftoz haven’t released his music recently, however he explained that ever since his last album he has been focusing more on producing music for multiple artist. ” seeing the artist who produces their music with me won awards gives me courage as well as makes me realize that I am fulfilling my goals as a producer. I’m working hard and taking advices from other Musicians very seriously, and that’s contributed most to my growth in the music industry,” he summed up.
Ripfumelo is an ambitious and self-motivated individual who thrives on challenges and constantly sets objectives for herself. She's always looking for an opportunity to do better and achieve greatness.
Hmmmm what i can say as Dj Giftoz i called him gogo he called me mzee as to make good friendship. He is my family nit just a person.

We started this from 2004 strangling with pc and mic to record voices. But we was thinking it will end there but i see that Dj Giftoz was in a need to be an artist like today.
