BOTSWANA’S FATHER OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Maatla Hendry Kebautlwetse, a.k.a Maatla Kebs, is a vibrant photographer who was born in Orapa and raised in Lobatse.

Maatla‘s photography journey began in 2018 while he has still in high school. “I was inspired by a gentleman from a wildlife photography section,” he explained. “He goes by the name of David Yarrow, and I had to work hard to be like him,” he continued. The Maun based photographer began learning photography on YouTube, and is still exploring many factors on the mentioned platform.

He uses different gears in the field with his 5Dmark camera, and prefers 50mm STM lens for portrait photography, as well as 24mm for landscapes. Maatla‘s dream is to end up in a wildlife photography section, which is why he is working diligently to save enough funds so as to buy improved gear.
