Africa’s Very Own Magazine is seeking an experienced and passionate writer to join our team as an editorial business partner. This is a unique opportunity to work with a leading digital publication that celebrates African excellence and innovation.

As an editorial business partner, you will be responsible for leading the editorial direction of the magazine and working closely with the founding team to develop and execute a content strategy that aligns with our mission and vision. This will involve researching, writing, and editing articles and features that showcase the diversity and dynamism of African culture and highlight the many opportunities that exist on the continent.

To be considered for this role, you should have a strong track record of writing and editing for online and/or print publications, as well as experience in content strategy and editorial planning. You should also have a keen interest in African culture, politics, and economics, and be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the continent and its many cultures and industries.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the editorial direction of Africa’s Very Own Magazine and develop a content strategy that aligns with our mission and vision
• Research, write, and edit articles and features that showcase the diversity and dynamism of African culture and highlight the many opportunities that exist on the continent
• Collaborate with the founding team to identify and pursue new content ideas and initiatives
• Work with other writers, editors, and designers to produce high-quality content for the magazine

Requirements:

• Strong track record of writing and editing for online and print publications
• Experience in content strategy and editorial planning
• At least 5 years’ experience as a writer
• Keen interest in African culture, politics, and economics
• Deep understanding of the continent and its many cultures and industries
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Understanding of digital media
• Must be based in Gaborone, Botswana
