Africa’s Very Own Magazine is a digital magazine with a mission to showcase Africa not only as a hub of adventure but also as the home of innovation and excellence by conversing with different African leaders in different industries.

Description

We are looking for young, curious, and talented aspiring writers to join our editorial team for a 6 months unpaid internship.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Carry out research on topics assigned to them.
  • Create content in the form of articles based on the data collected from their research.
  • Convert the information acquired into readable, easy-to-understand content tailored to their specific audience .
  • Read style guides or project briefs and use them to develop content.
  • Revise their work based on editorial feedback.
  • Write and publish at least one(1) article per week.

Qualifications and Skills

Entry level: No experience required.

Target: Tertiary students studying media, journalism, or related field.

(Students studying other courses may feel free to apply if they have a passion for writing and the following skills:)

Skills:

  • Fluency in the English language.
  • Basic writing skills.
  • Basic research skills.

Salary and Benefits

This is an unpaid internship and does not offer monetary compensation. (No salary)

Contributers will work with other skilled writers and copy editors who will train them to write ‘for digital’ and give constructive feedback on every piece written.

Upon completing the 6 months internship, writer receives a certificate of achievement from Africa’s Very Own Magazine and a Reference from the publication director.
